1. Obtaining a temporary Press pass
Contact the Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and arrange an appointment with:
Documents needed:
- Passport (+ visa type D when needed), or ID card (EU citizens)
- An accreditation letter proving that you are appointed as correspondent in Belgium
- National press card
- Two passport photographs
- Professional card (for non-EU free-lances)
On the basis of the above documents and the file from the Embassy, the Press Department will generally issue a temporary pass, valid for three months. This pass can be renewed provided you have applied for registration in your Municipality of residence and a permanent Press card at IPA

Documends needed:
- Request form
- Declaration from your Director/Editor-in-Chief certifying that you are a paid correspondent from at least two years (for free-lances proof of remuneration in the last two years shall be produced)
- One copy of the temporary Press pass
- One copy of the residence certificate delivered by your Municipality
- One copy of the birth certificate from your Country or Consulate or copy of your passport
- Four passport photos
3. Residence permit
Find an accomodation, establish your residence there and go to the Municipality.
Documends needed:
- Accreditation letter from your Director/Editor-in-Chief
- Passport
- Lease contract
- Temporary press card
- Three passport photos
